My response to the article by Mr Noah Smith

๐Ÿ‘† article is optimistic and bullish about india but  I can vouch for part of his claims - having regular opportunity to travel to the interiors of India , interacting with people , witnessing infrastructure upheaval & observing the mindset shift among youngsters .

Delhi Haridwar 6 lane highway , Delhi Mumbai Transport Corridor , Vande Bharat trains and small town airports are visible signs of massive strides india is making . Delhi Metro is most widespread than of any cities . Airports are the finest in the world . 

Local Indian restaurants have the same flair and innovativeness as Starbucks , Mac . Cleanliness and being in queue is now accepted and emerging culture. 

Digital penetration is deep right upto illiterate & unauthorised fruit seller and veg vendor on street . EV vehicle , scooters , Uber / Ola / Zomato / Swiggy with IPL , ISL reflect radical consumer preferences . 

Roads , Apartments , Airports  are going boom boom with opportunity to travel . IT & OTT is making Indian appreciate & accept of ethic language , cultures , cuisines . 

But flip side of this :
Fiscal discipline . Most Govt are  giving freebies to poor , retired and marginalised people to balance with those who are sidelined by surge of young aspirants .  A good move to stay in power as these are the people who vote . But fiscal deficit is ballooning and getting out of control . Payment delays, indiscriminate Govt  spending has opened up the opportunity of massive corruption and election funding .

Sudden desire to acquire material comforts is eroding educational standards , shifting of moral and ethical parameters , rampant individuality and greed . All this is disturbing peace - causing stress related disorders , early diabetes and heart related ailments .

Nationalistic Jingoism is officially clubbed with Religious sentiments and it’s obvious to see the blatant bias and prejudice for Muslims . This perception is now becoming vocal having spread across every layer of the Indian society . Most persons , institutions and society are spilt between Right  or Center political leaning with Right heavily loaded while center is fragmented . Irony is both are liberal because that’s where the money ๐Ÿ’ฐ is . 

We are still far far away from guaranteeing minimum and assured wages , right of education and clean water to rural workers / farmers . 

But even after subtracting these negatives - india is surging ahead and shall continue to make rapid strides .

Madhav Julian and Indiver -เคช्เคฐेเคฎเคธ्เคตเคฐुเคช เค†เคˆ and Zindgi Ka Safar

When I hear this poetry of Madhav Julian sung by Lata - my eyeballs swell with a blob - as the poem reaches mid way. A fabulous rendition that seems to have bled through damaged heart of this man. Tears don’t come that easily to me. That prerogative belong to Rajesh Khanna in Hindi movies of Anand Amar Prem and Dharmendra in Satyakam . In this poem too tears don’t come because I miss my mother or think of her from a distant land. This poem resurrects a character who has raised in orphanage and became successful to get all the comforts and accolades that a man can strive for. Yet he has remained empty in his heart without the existence of his mother। He doesnt remember her face as she has left long before she made any imprint on his life. Today is my mother’s birthday and I thought it would be appropriate to write about this poem.
