Lata and Pancham.... some great songs

Pancham is not associated with Lata as much as with Asha & Gulzar ... ... Ijaazat , Namkeen , Ghar ..... The songs sung by Asha for Pancham were pathbreaking , innovative and experimental and were tough to render too. But so are some of Pancham and Lata and they are memorable too.... Kitni khoobsurat yeh tasveer hai . .... Tere bina zindagi se koi ...... Tune O rangeele kaisa jaadu kiy a....... Haan jab tak hai jaan jaan -e- jahan ........... Baahon mein chale aao ............ Jeevan ke din chhote sahi .............. Kaanta lagaaa ............. Jaane kaise kab kahan ............. Tere liye palkon ki jhaalar boonun .............. Tere bina jiya jaaye na . ............ Kitna pyara vaada hai in matwali aankhon ka .............. Saajna mein sada tere saath hoon .............. kuch na kaho ............... beete na bitaye raina ............. However, some songs make us feel nice, happy no matter what the situation is. Tolo Chinno Bina - a Bengali song from Ekanto Apun would come in this category. I discovered this song from the blog of Bishwanath and ever since, i am in love with the tune. Amazing RD with his fabulous repertoire of musical jewels and one such jewel is Tolo Chinna Bina. Pancham's final Journey.

Lee Iacocca in his autobiography mentioned that he was lucky to have been born in USA and also being born at this period of USA. I feel, we all are lucky to have Pancham been born in India but we would have been more fortunate if he were to arrive two decades later - when fruits of digital music and globalization is making Indian talent shine on the world horizon. Pancham with A R Rahman would have ruled music scene globally. I cant imagine how FM's in India would have commercially survived without Pancham. Today most popular remix are churned out of Pancham's old melodies of 70's and 80's and they co-exist with original songs enchanting almost four generations. His ever presence melodies on FM makes us feel that he is very much part of us. Only when we see the above video, realization hit us that he is no more .
