There are songs that make us happy when we are morose and there are some that make is subdued when we are high. However, some songs make us feel nice, happy no matter what the situation is. Tolo Chinno Bina - a Bengali song from Ekanto Apun would come in this category. I discovered this song from the blog of Bishwanath and ever since, i am in love with the tune. Amazing RD with his fabulous repertoire of musical jewels and one such jewel is Tolo Chinna Bina.

I was very keen to get the lyrics for this song but I could not get it on google. I must persist with my Bengali friends to get these and also English translation. Until then, I shall keep playing this song on my PC and feel elated.

p.s : subasish from pancham yahoo forum wrote about hindi version of this song ' Laharake Dagar Chalti Hain'. I was utterely disapppointed to listen to this but in the process, stumbled upon a wonderful FM station that plays music on demand. FM Radio by Demand is Nepal based station that accepts your request and plays it.

Do you ever know that the song like TOLO CHINNO BINA was also made in hindi, which is from the film JEEVAN MUKT (1977), directed by SUDHENDU ROY and produced by SUDHENDU ROY himself. It was like "Laharake Dagar Chali Jati" sung by ASHA JI, and the lyricisit was "YOGESH", i do have that song, if you would require, then can send me a mail.

Thanks to your blog I got the lyrics of this beautiful song. I hope your Bong friends have helped you with the translation by now; if not here is the literal meaning in English, which of course is nowhere as poetic as the original...I have numbered the stanzas for your benefit.

When I hear this poetry of Madhav Julian sung by Lata - my eyeballs swell with a blob - as the poem reaches mid way. A fabulous rendition that seems to have bled through damaged heart of this man. Tears don’t come that easily to me. That prerogative belong to Rajesh Khanna in Hindi movies of Anand Amar Prem and Dharmendra in Satyakam . In this poem too tears don’t come because I miss my mother or think of her from a distant land.
