Till life do us apart by Pramod Nawalkar

My respect for Pramod Nawalkar has gone up after reading this wonderful article on Mid day. He was one of the early pillars of Shiv Sena when the orgainzation was struggling to find roots in Mumbai. Annual marathi magazine of 'Brahmanti' became popular with his lucid and entertaining articles in criminal world of Mumbai. I dont know why he was relegated to just a minister when Shiv Sena came to power. I am reproduing his article : Quote If I ask you if divorces in Mumbai outnumber marriages, you will laugh at me. Nani Ardeshir Palkhivala (1920-2002)

Nani A. Palkhivala, a stalwart of the Tata Group, passed away in Mumbai on Wednesday, December 11, 2002. He was 82. For me, image of Nani Palkhivala would be synonymous with public speech on Union budget. His speech on Union Budget would attract stock brokers, Investment bankers, chartered accountants, businessmen, management students and crowd would swell 50,000 and above. The figure at any of those political rallies at Shivaji Park would be bigger with the exception of chaos, truck loads of hired participants with shouting slogans. I attended his budget speech at Muscat Sheraton , Oman the same day when Mumbai was rocked by bomb blast. He explained that events in Bombay has troubled him and he may no be at his best . I also remember the controversy when he was asked to resign for taking measurement of Nancy Carter’s feet for her shoes. Media criticized him for lowering dignity of India and office of ambassador.
